15 Photo Evaluation

Our story idea for the 15 photo evaluation we decided to centre our story on someone visiting a house were the residents have passed away and the house's ghostly remains still linger. To do this we used a variety of shots and Photoshop tools and inserted various metaphors surrounding our idea. We introduce the story early with  a shot of the neighbourhood in it's prior state through an old photograph in front of the current street of today. This sets up a theme we decided on throughout of decay and the past coming back to haunt you.

The early photos all mirror this idea with having various photographs in the front of the remains of the house. Implying were these events have taken place are now filled with hollowness and emptiness. Several of the images are blurred to imply more of a ghostly, unearthly quality which we achieved using Photoshop. We wanted the images to be more surreal, with an  ambiguous quality to the story hence the reason no one appears physically in the shots as it could be seen from a ghosts point of view.

We also wanted a lot of the room shots to feel empty and hollow, decaying and destroyed, showcasing the empty quality to the house. We also had some of the images in black and white to create a darker quality to the images that was scarier and more visually interesting compared to the original quality of the images. We also inserted shots to imply what the former residents interests would be, inserting a camera and paint brush's into the shot, to imply an artistic quality to the residents interests.

We also obscured the visible light in many of the shots, to darken the mood. We wanted the story to get darker as it went on, this there are no pictures of the happier past in the shots as it was a reminder of the tragic element. I feel if we were to do this again however I would like to do something a little less surreal. and perhaps easier to follow and less ambiguous. But I felt like the group worked well together and created something interesting.
